What Makes This Work So Effective?

In the movie The Karate Kid, the Karate master starts the kid’s training by having him paint fences and wash cars for days on end using very specific physical techniques. Those techniques powerfully ingrained responses into the kid’s mind and body that became a foundation for Karate skills that helped him immensely with physical conflict.

Mindfulness Behavioral Skills Training also involves dedicated training. Through the daily practice of home-exercises (that generally leave you feeling more relaxed and rejuvenated), you cultivate key skills that can enable you to reduce mental and emotional distress, and face difficult life situations with less inner stress and more self-compassion.

With increasing ease and skill, you learn how to find release from ingrained habits of thought and behavior that contribute to and perpetuate suffering. The skills learned can help “undo” blocks to creativity and optimal effectiveness, and foster a healthy “natural” functioning.
